Unique 21st Birthday Cards

Happy 21st birthday cards should be unique and special to the birthday gal or guy.

It's a milestone and the occasion should be celebrated with family or friends in a special way.

Birthday wishes can be posted on Facebook or via an email or text message.

I think a handwritten wish in a birthday greeting card would be so much more special and memorable and I believe much treasured.

It can be displayed as part of the party decorations and later added to a scrapbook after the event.

Here are two designs I have created from rubber stamps and printed birthday greetings.

Handmade 21st Birthday Cards : Design #1

The first birthday card design is rather simple.

All I did is choose a appropriate stamp image that would be great for any young girl coming of age.

It's an image of a girl in high heels with one hand balancing a many tiers cake and the other hand clutching her designer handbag and a shopping bag.

My imagination is that the bag is a gift for the birthday girl.

This wood mounted rubber stamp is by Penny Black, Inc and is titled Sweet Surprise (4162K).

Below is an image of the finished card. I stamped the image in Memento black ink and left it uncoloured. The only colour is in the number 21st in order to bring focus to this special day.

Though this looks simple and easy to make which it is, it doesn't mean that it won't be treasured.

I notice that most girls at this age are for the clean simple designs and if you don't know what the birthday girl's preference, you might want to play safe by making this simple black and white 21st birthday greeting card with a touch of red.

Or...if you want something for deliberate, the following card design idea might just be the one.

Handmade 21st Birthday Cards : Design #2

This second card design takes a bit more time and effort but I think it is worth all the extra time and effort taken.

This 21st birthday card was created using a Hero Art wood mounted rubber stamp (H4779 Collage Thank You).

I like the vintage key and thought it would be just the right image for a 21st birthday greeting card for anyone who loves things vintage as well as travelling to exotic places.

Cardmaking Directions:

Here are the steps taken to make this handmade birthday card.

Tip! : You can use any collage stamp image and easily convert it into a image for a birthday card by changing the message/wordings.

  1. Create 'Happy 21st Birthday!' greeting with Photoshop. (You can also use Microsoft Word to do this.)
  2. Print on white card stock and cut into a 1.75" circle using die cut machine or punch.
  3. Ink rubber stamp with black ink and stamp on white card stock.
  4. Ink only the key image area ad stamp on white card stock.
  5. Colour the stamped images with distress inks using the dauber or a makeup sponge.
  6. Trim collage image to size and for the vintage key, cut closely around key image.
  7. Use foam double-sided tape or glue dots to layer round die cut and key image over the collage image.
  8. Cut a folded black cardstock and glue the whole assemblage onto the centre of the folded card.

That's it! A birthday collage card with a vintage look.
